Rebuy vs. re-entry — what's the difference?
They sound similar but behave differently. Pick the right one for your event.
Rebuy
A rebuy purchases more chips WITHOUT requiring bust-out — unless you enable Live Rebuys, which adds the bust-out-first rule. You keep your seat and stack.
Re-entry
A re-entry is a fresh entry (a new bullet) AFTER busting out. You get a new stack, your old stack is gone, and the event treats it like you just arrived.
Standard poker terminology: a re-entry is NOT a rebuy. Don't use them interchangeably when announcing the structure.
Pick based on your format
- •Freeze-out: neither — bust and you're out for good.
- •Rebuy event: typically allows rebuys until a set level, then add-on.
- •Re-entry event: lets busted players buy back in as a new bullet, often within a window (e.g. until late reg closes).
