Run the ClockExplanation
Handling disputes
A common-sense playbook for the most frequent disagreements.
Every regular game director will eventually have to make a judgment call. The goal is consistency, not perfection.
Common scenarios
- •String bet: the bettor's first motion is the bet. Clarify; don't penalize first offense.
- •Out-of-turn action: bind if subsequent action is unchanged; wave off if the situation materially changed.
- •Exposed hole card: penalty at your discretion; common rule is the hand stays live but the player shows after.
- •Chip count dispute: pause, count, document in the tournament notes, resume.
Document unusual rulings in tournament notes. If the same situation comes up again, you'll have a reference to stay consistent.
